Travel Tip 2: Buses from Catania to Etna Rifugio Sapienza run daily, except on December 25th, January 1st, May 1st, August 15th, and Easter Sunday. Departure is from Piazza Giovanni XXIII in Catania at 8:15 AM. The return from Etna – Rifugio Sapienza is at 4:30 PM. The journey takes about 2 hours. A return ticket costs €6.60 and can be purchased directly on the bus from the driver. More info here.
